Our recent survey found the top priority for over half of Irish businesses in digital marketing this year is content across their owned channels e.g. social media and website. If your business needs inspiration on how to create, share and amplify the right content, look no further than travel influencers, experts at the best use of blogs, photographs, videos… or just simple posts. As we have many clients in the tourism and travel sectors, we know who is leading the way online. Here are some of our favourite Irish social media accounts — with a travel focus — that are getting content right.

IRELAND’S ANCIENT EAST

INSTAGRAM – @irelandsancienteast

It doesn’t get much more spectacular than the Instagram account for Ireland’s Ancient East. This tourism initiative is operated by Fáilte Ireland, and the page transports you through 5,000 years of history. Photographs are credited to the photographer; are reflective of the season they are posted in; are clearly captioned; and contain, where appropriate, a little insight into the landmark. They are all also perfectly instaworthy. Pop on the kettle and prepare to tour, from the comfort of your own home, the stunning Mount Congreve Gardens; the spectacular Rock of Cashel; and Fota Wildlife Park, home to animals and birds from five continents who roam free (where possible).

PÓL Ó CONGHAILE

TWITTER – @poloconghaile

An award-winning travel writer and expert, Pól Ó Conghaile is the Irish Independent travel editor, and also writes and shoots for National Geographic Traveller… so expect knowledgeable and engaging content! His very active Twitter feed gives up-to-the-minute accounts of what he’s doing/working on/travelling to. This is about constantly being in the moment, asking questions, and providing solid advice. We’re particularly loving this recent tweet on his Fungie sighting in Dingle.

OUTSIDER MAGAZINE

FACEBOOK – @outsidermag

Hop onto the Facebook page of Outsider magazine, an Irish publication which is published on a quarterly basis, for good insight into using good content via Facebook. Regularly updated with blogs from the website, be inspired to take part in the muddiest obstacle races in Ireland or see what are the most epic adventures to add to your bucket list. There is also a great podcast series with some seriously inspirational Irish adventurers.

YOUR IRISH ADVENTURE

INSTAGRAM – @youririshadventure

They say the best things come in threes, and they are not wrong. A trio of passionate and travel-loving writers and photographers — Conor Phelan, Janet Newenham (you may already know Janet from the popular travel blog Journalist On the Run) and Oisin Feeney — run youririshadventure.com and what they have created is something quite special. Only launched in January this year, they are already making an impact, sharing their love of Ireland through pics of secret spots and hidden gems. The result is stunning, and goes from articles like the most beautiful towns in Ireland to monthly posts on the top festivals happening in the country. Activity is encouraged by asking followers to tag #youririshadventure to be featured!
