The tenth annual Shine Valentine’s Ball in aid of the Cork Shine Centre for Autism takes place at the Maryborough Hotel & Spa on Saturday 13 February. All proceeds from the charity black-tie evening will go to the Shine Centre for Autism. More than €250,000 has been raised since the first Shine Ball in 2006 to fund much-needed services and programmes for children with autism in Cork city and county.

Chairperson of Shine Ireland, Eamon O’Donovan, says the event is crucial to ensuring the Shine Centre for Autism can continue to meet demand for its services. “The annual Shine Valentine’s Ball, now in its 10th year, is vital in supporting the services we provide to children with autism and their families. The vast majority of our services are free and we are asking for your kind support to help us maintain the essential support and services we provide.”

The voluntary organisation and registered charity has worked with children and adolescents with autism since its establishment in 2001. The organisation has expanded over the years and to date has worked with more than 1,000 children and families across Cork city and county. The Shine Centre provides assessments, therapies, services and appropriate education. It also assists families with securing support and entitlements.

The  Shine Ball will begin with a champagne reception,followed by a five course meal. Guests will be entertained with a charity auction, spot prizes, music, dancing and a DJ until late.
