The Cork University Hospital (CUH) Charity today announced the raffle of a Matt Lamb painting worth €100,000 as part of the CUH Charity Art Exhibition in the Cardiac/Renal Wing of the hospital. The two day exhibition, which is open to the public, is being run by The Warren Gallery and will be on display from the 29th – 30th of April, with proceeds being donated to the CUH Charity’s Children’s Appeal.

The Children’s Appeal is currently fundraising for €1.5m for the refurbishment of the Children’s Unit at the hospital. The exhibition will feature renowned artists such as Matt Lamb, William Crozier, Aidan Bradley, Joby Hickey, Fergus O’ Ryan, Ken Browne and Colin Flack.

The highlight of the exhibition will be the unveiling of the Matt Lamb painting, which will be displayed in the Cardiac/Renal Wing until the raffle winner is announced on the 17th of October 2013.  Raffle tickets are priced at €10 and are available from the CUH Charity from the 29th April until the 17th October 2013.

Professor Michael Molloy, Chairperson of the CUH Charity said “We are extremely grateful to Fergus O’Mahony and The Warren Gallery who have put together this exceptional exhibition and are very kindly supporting the refurbishment of the Children’s Unit here in CUH with their donation. We are very fortunate to also be holding a raffle for a painting by the acclaimed self-taught painter Matt Lamb and would like to thank the Lamb family for their generous donation”.

The Children’s Appeal was established to improve services and facilities in the Children’s Unit of the CUH which provides services for children from all over Munster. Each year, 7,500 children, from 2 days old to 16 years of age are admitted to the Children’s Unit at CUH, 5,000 attend the Children’s Day Unit and 10,000 are seen in the out-patient department – making it one of busiest Children’s Units in the country.
