Designworks Studio Launches Irish Jewellery Designers Pop-Up Shop and Exhibition
13 September 2011 – Tuula Harrington, goldsmith and jewellery designer, today announced the second instalment of the Adornment Pop-Up Shop and Exhibition in her Designworks Studio in Cornmarket Street, Cork. The Adornment Project is a collaboration of Irish jewellery designers to mark the Year of Craft 2011. The exhibition is entitled ‘Edgy Monochrome’ and is being launched with an event on the 22nd of September, with 10% off all jewellery on the launch night, and runs until the 13th October 2011.
The Pop- Up shop includes high-end statement pieces along with jewellery from the designers more affordable lines, starting from around €100 euros.
“It’s a very exciting time for Designworks. The Adornment Project has given me a unique opportunity to showcase the craftsmanship and creativity of jewellery designers in Ireland but also highlights how wearable and affordable the pieces are. On foot of the success of the first Adornment project we not only decided to run a second instalment, with new designers, but we have also opened a separate pop-up shop in the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin.” said Tuula Harrington.
The Adornment – ‘Edgy – Monochrome’ exhibition and shop will include work by jewellery designers Rachel Swan, Ger Breslin, Sam Lafford, Mette O’Connor, Christina Brosnan, Seamus Gill, Derek McGarry as well as Tuula Harrington. Along with an exhibition of jewellery, The Adornment Project includes beautiful photographs of the pieces by Agata Stoinska with concept and art direction by Eddie Shanahan.
To mark the Year of Craft 2011 Tuula is also delighted to be participating in the special Irish Design event ‘Irish Designers Create’, launched on 8th September by Brown Thomas on Fashion’s Night Out, which is a celebration of Irish designers innovation and is running on Level 3 Brown Thomas Dublin from the 8th – 18thSeptember 2011.
