Corkonians: Want to do something a bit different with your lunch hour? Cork Midsummer Festival is inviting members of the public to a lunchtime participatory ‘flash street party’ to launch the much loved multidisciplinary arts festival on Friday, June 12^th 2015.

Winners of the Street Performers World Championships in 2013, the incomparable Lords of Strut, are set to bring some Midsummer magic to the streets of Cork on a Friday at lunchtime, where a five minute dance party will officially launch this year’s Midsummer Festival.

Everyone and anyone are invited to get involved in the flash dance party – community groups, dance groups, individuals, groups of friends and families of all ages. There are two ways to get involved – by going to the quick crash course rehearsal, or by watching the online video which will be available at www.corkmidsummer.com from Thursday, 28^th May.

FLASH PARTY – tutorial

The Lords of Strut are hosting two rehearsals: on June 2^nd and June 9^th, between 6.30pm and 8pm at the Circus Factory in Cork, where you will be given a crash course in how to have a Flash Street Party. Attendance at one rehearsal is sufficient. The Lords have promised that this street party will be ‘extra special’. The flash street party will take place on Friday, June 12^th at 1pm.
