Designworks Studio, Cornmarket Street, Cork, is delighted to announce the launch of its summer exhibitions programme. The programme will feature a number of free exhibitions throughout the summer months by jewellers, goldsmiths and ceramicists. Kicking off this summer’s programme will be exciting ceramics designer Deirdre De Courcey.
Deirdre’s exhibition “Conformation” will open with a preview from 6 – 8 pm on 22 June 2012 with guest speaker Trish Brennan, Head of Fine Art (Acting) at The Crawford College of Art and Design. The exhibition will run until 13 July, giving all visitors to Designworks Studio an opportunity to see Deirdre’s beautiful ceramic designs.
Deirdre, whose pieces are influenced by urban architecture, has recently undertaken an awarded residency at The National Sculpture Factory and has two pieces as part of the permanent collection at The Crawford College of Art and Design.
“Designworks Studio believes in the importance of showcasing Ireland’s designers and artists alongside each other in the public arena” stated Tuula Harrington proprietor of Designworks Studio. “We aim to engage with the public and various artists and designers alike, encouraging each to relish in the ideas and processes behind the work created and displayed in-house” added Tuula.
