The Calnan Group puts farmers’ welfare first
An innovative Irish company is highlighting farm workers’ well-being at this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Stradbally, Co Laois from 23rd – 25thSeptember.
The Calnan Group will be displaying a mobile welfare unit for farm workers, complete with toilet facilities, a kitchenette and seating. Like the majority of Calnan products, the unit is made from a recycled shipping container.
Joe Walsh, managing director of the Calnan Group, said: ”Under health & safety regulations, employers have to provide welfare facilities such as washing, toilet, rest and changing facilities and somewhere clean to eat and drink during breaks.
“This is particularly important for farm workers who work outside in all weather conditions, and are likely to be in contact with livestock or fresh produce and crops. It’s not always practical, or indeed, hygienic to use a farmhouse’s bathroom or kitchen facilities.
“Our mobile welfare units are a perfect solution, providing an affordable, secure, hygienic and comfortable environment for agricultural workers to enjoy a well-earned break.”
Calnan’s mobile welfare units can be purchased outright or hired, and they come completely fitted out to meet customers’ requirements, with everything from flushing toilets to tables, chairs, coat hooks, cookers, mains connections and gas heaters.
Each mobile welfare unit is vandal proof and features a twin axel and brakes for easy transportation on-site.
Joe Walsh continued: ”Farm work is physically demanding and workers need and deserve a secure environment where they can enjoy their break. Our mobile units offer farmers an alternative to inviting workers into the farm kitchen and we are confident that farmers’ wives may heave a collective sigh of relief too!”
A fully kitted-out Calnan mobile welfare unit will be on display at the National Ploughing Championships at Block 1,Row 12,Stand 111 where Joe Walsh, managing director of the Calnan Group, will be available for interview . The kettle will be on and waiting.
