Almost 100 team members from TELUS International Ireland have created an inclusive first of its kind serenity garden for Fota Wildlife Park visitors. The transformed space is located near the new Fota Education, Conservation and Research Centre and marked the central project in their annual TELUS Days of Giving event for 2024.

Team members from TELUS International sites in Cork, Ballina and Dublin helped to transform the disused area within Fota Wildlife Park into a beautiful garden within a day. The serenity garden will serve as a tranquil space for patrons and student groups seeking quiet when visiting the park.

A variety of activities were taken on by team members including: planting wildflowers and native plants to ensure the garden will be alive with insects, birds, as well as laying pathways. The team also worked on animal enclosures throughout Fota Wildlife Park.

Roger Clancy, TELUS International Ireland’s VP of Operations and General Manager, said: “As part of our TELUS Days of Giving activities this year, we are delighted to partner with one of Ireland’s most popular and well-loved visitor attractions, Fota Wildlife Park. We are truly inspired by the Park’s core values of conservation, education, and research to foster greater public understanding of the threats to plant and animal habitats and decreasing global biodiversity.”

“Volunteering and charitable giving are a core element of TELUS International, and a big draw for employees to our organisation for both philanthropic and personal reasons. Since 2007, we have helped 1.2 million people through these activities, and we only have plans to keep this up. TELUS Days of Giving events across the globe bring together team members and retirees, families and friends in each of the regions where TELUS International operates to make a powerful and positive impact in their local communities.”

Also commenting, Sean McKeown, outgoing Director at Fota Wildlife Park, said: “Working with TELUS International Ireland team members as part of the organisation’s volunteering day to create this beautiful space has been fantastic. The park here, while a peaceful place, can often get quite busy with families, friends groups, school groups and so on bustling around. We now have a dedicated space for people to spend time relaxing.”
