Content Creation: Podcasts
At Springboard, we are always looking at the different ways to create interesting content. Podcasts provide useful, entertaining and informative content using audio format. Here are our top 4 tips for creating a podcast for your business.
#1 Know your goals
A lot of work goes into a podcast, so you need to be sure it is the right route for your business goals. Do you want your podcast to drive traffic to your website? Do you want to use it as a platform for expressing ideas? Will it be a platform to share expert knowledge? Know your goals and build a strategy around them.
#2 Share your unique point of view
There are plenty of business podcasts out there already, so you need to make sure yours stands out from the crowd. It is important to have a unique selling point. Write down your pillars of conversation – what you want people to take away when they listen to your podcast – and refer to these throughout the research stage of each episode.
#3 Choose the format that works best for you
There are many different ways you can present your podcast. You can use an interview-based format, interviewing experts in your field. You could also choose a first-person storytelling method. Listening to other podcasts is a great way to get a feel for the different formats, and decide which one would work best for your business.
#4 The fun is in the edit
Once you have planned exactly how you want the podcast to sound, it’s not just about the recording. You need to get the edit right. When editing an interview it is important to cut it down and only keep the most compelling bits. Adding in sound effects, music, or background noise can add variety to your podcast, helping to set the scene and make your podcast come alive.
