Hold your horses! Top international show jumpers come to Cork
For the first time Cork Greyhound Stadium is set to be transformed into a show jumping arena to welcome world-class Irish show jumpers and their horses to Cork for one night only on Friday, 12th June.
The Underwriting Exchange Limited’s Jumping in the City, which was launched nationally by Simon Coveney, Minister for Agriculture, Food, the Marine and Defence, will see three different classes of competition, including The Underwriting Exchange Limited Grand Prix with a jump-off against the clock for some of Ireland’s top riders, The West Wood/Ifor Williams trailers Amateur series for grassroots riders, and a big crowd favourite: The Devenish Puissance, whereby riders aim to jump a huge red wall. The wall is built progressively higher after each round, and the horse who can jump the highest is deemed the winner.
Along with fantastic show jumping spectators can enjoy top percussion act, Extreme Rhythm, who have previously performed on the X Factor with Kelly Clarkson, and in keeping with the spirit of the greyhound track, off-course and on-course betting will be available on the night.
